A beam of light filtered through a hole of a house folk den and shone down on a queen and her trio of kits. The queens white tipped black tail circled around her young. "Do you know what today is, my kits?"
The tom kit's ears twitched. One black and the other white. "No." He squeaked.
The brown and white she-kit's blue eyes blinked. "What is today Mother?"
The smallest of the three lifted her head and gave a slow blink. "Is today our third moon?"
Their mother purred and touched her nose to the white kit. "It is, Sugar."
With a squeak the chocolate and white she-kit leaped onto the black and white tom-kit. "We get to go outside Seven!"
Using his sheathed paws, Seven tried to push her off him. "Cocoa, get off."
Behind them a creaking sound.
Turning their heads to look they watched as a brown tom with white front toes and white back socks trounced in. His yellow eyes gleamed as he walked over to the queen and her kits. "Lovelace! It's a sunny day out."
